“If 2009 was the year of the tweet and the “like” button in the media industry, 2010 was the year of the check-in, social games and social integration.” - Ellie Behling
Never actually thinking about the quote above, I believe it is 100% true. I also believe that every year we have a ‘social integration’ within the media because it is constantly changing. Behling discusses many advancements through social media. First, through the Facebook application FarmVille. The main objective in FarmVille is to create your own farm. PopSugar, a celebrity site had done the same as FarmVille however, women are to create their own boutique; a “Retail Therapy Game”.
Seventeen Magazine also made a social integration by adding their paper back onto the computer screen. “An obvious move for the brand”, clearly with a rapid change from newspapers and magazines to internet based articles and blogs, I can’t even remember the last time I read a magazine! The use of technology is increasing earlier in a child’s life, therefore there may be a lack of introducing magazines to people ever again. Seventeen has created a “virtual dressing room” where people can create their own outfits for purchase, or just for fun.
